Since the winter semester 2004/2005, the Unit of Educational Psychology at Heidelberg University has been headed by Prof. Dr. Birgit Spinath. Our research is dedicated to optimizing teaching and learning processes in both school and higher education settings. We specifically explore the role of cognitive, motivational, and self-regulatory skills as fundamental prerequisites for successful educational processes. Moreover, our unit places strong emphasis on teacher training.
In teaching, the Unit of Educational Psychology provides a broad range of courses. We offer introductory courses tailored for psychology students and preservice teachers, as well as seminars focusing on specialized areas.
