We are delighted to announce that the paper “Lévy versus Wiener: Assessing the Effects of Model Misspecification on Diffusion Model Parameters” by Tuba Hato, Lukas Schumacher, Stefan T. Radev, and Andreas Voss has been accepted for publication in Computational Brain & Behavior.
The study examines the consequences of applying the Diffusion Decision Model (DDM) to data generated by the Lévy Flight Model (LFM), a newer model that accounts for heavy-tailed noise in evidence accumulation. Through extensive simulations and empirical data analysis, the authors demonstrate that DDM-based analyses may introduce systematic biases when the LFM better describes the underlying cognitive processes.
