Brief Interventions

Currently, international research offers a multitude of brief interventions to foster students' motivation, achievement, and/or wellbeing (Walton, 2014; Walton & Wilson, 2018; Yeager & Walton, 2011). Oftentimes, these interventions only take little time and can be conducted with rather little effort in the classrooms. Driven by theoretical assumptions, these interventions target specific psychological processes - and aim to change them in a positive way. Different research questions with regard to brief interventions can be supervised. Main topics include:

  • the adaptation of interventions from international research to educational contexts in Germany
  • the specification of underlying mechanisms that make interventions effective
  • the specification of context variables that make interventions effective
