Per·son·al·ity (pɝsəˈnælɪɾi): n (pl. -ties): [from Latin persōna = mask, role; from per = through and sōnāre = sound, because in the theatre of the ancient Latin-speeking world, the mask has a large mouth or a reed device inserted into it for projecting the voice of the actor; originates from Etruscan phersu = mask].
